ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS AND PROCEDURES

QUALITY WORK AND HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL

Quality work is expected on all work, from all students.  Quality work is:

  • Complete

  • Readable

  • Neat

  • Edited

  • Best Effort!

Work that is not yet quality may be returned to the student to be fixed; these assignments may fall into the LATE WORK category.

MAKE-UP WORK

When you are absent from school, it will be your responsibility to contact your teachers for the assignments missed.  You will be given as many days as you were absent to complete your make-up work.  Teachers are not expected to send homework to the office for parent pick-up unless the student is absent more than two days.

Since your teachers are designing curriculum based upon the skills that the District has determined you must learn, instruction does not follow a textbook page for page.  It is your responsibility to find out what was done in class and perhaps ask another student to pick up worksheets and share notes with you.  When you return, you are responsible for finding out what you have missed and making the work up in the allowed time.  Our teachers will be there to assist you with any questions on the missed assignments.

GRADING POLICY FOR LATE WORK

  • Late assignments will be reduced 25% of earned credit if they are late, or if turned in within one week of the established due date.  The highest possible grade is a 75%.

  • Assignments turned in after one week of the established due date (up to the pre-established homework deadlines) will receive 50% of earned credit.  The highest possible grade is 50%.

  • Homework will be accepted for up to 50% credit until the deadlines listed below.  Late work not turned in by these deadlines will be entered in the grade-book as a zero and will not be allowed to be made up.  From time to time extra credit may be offered; please contact the teacher for more information.
